about

homage to childhood and how colorful it is

lyrics

my first heartbreak turned my hair gray
my first kiss i got red in the face

my first blue i painted it true
thick broad strokes the walls of the room

i was young

last time i cried all i saw was black
felt the cool of the earth on my back

one small seed watered with care
and green comes up there

i was young

the old wagon was yellow mom at the wheel
when it was full had a hard time on the hills

we launched oranges from the house
and rolled them into traffic they'd get kicked about

i was young

community garden at the robson house
i loved the purple artichoke flowers

old bricks from the earthquake
fresh figs and other treats to take

i was young
